Summary, etc	Este artículo se centra en un momento de la historia del municipio de la ciudad de Buenos Aires: la epidemia de fiebre amarilla que se desplegó en los primeros seis meses de 1871. Esta experiencia colectiva permite registrar una serie de intervenciones municipales e intentos de regulación sobre las formas de vida de los moradores de la ciudad y algunas de sus respuestas. El uso e interpretación de normas municipales, como las ordenanzas, posibilita reconocer cómo determinados argumentos supuestamente basados en la higiene tuvieron una función política, siendo –por lo tanto– materia de confrontaciones y de acuerdos sobre los atributos y las facultades de esa autoridad pública en formación.
