Este artículo trata sobre los efectos de la intensificación y la mecanización del trabajo agrícola en la situación de los obreros rurales de la Pampa Húmeda argentina y el Corn Belt de Estados Unidos, en términos de su relación con el tiempo y el espacio de sus empleos en los cultivos de soja y maíz. Nuestra hipótesis es que los tiempos y los espacios en que se desenvuelve la explotación de los trabajadores agrícolas se arreglan en función de variables sociales, y no sólo “técnicas”. Para comprobar nuestra hipótesis, analizamos dos procesos de intensificación agrícola de los mismos cultivos y con similares standards tecnológicos en dos países distintos, Argentina y Estados Unidos, donde básicamente un mismo tipo de tecnología se inserta en dos tipos de capitalismo y estructuras agraria, creando efectos diversos sobre la situación de los trabajadores. |
