Datos expuestos por la Sociedad Argentina de Pediatría Subcomisiones, Comités y Grupos de Trabajo, a través del “Consenso de escoliosis idiopática del adolescente”(4) y otros autores coinciden y ponen de manifiesto que la escoliosis idiopática constituye el 80% de todas las escoliosis siendo su incidencia entre la población juvenil aproximadamente el 2%, afectando en su mayoría al sexo femenino además, se debe tener en cuenta que cuanto más joven es el paciente más importante es el riesgo evolutivo, es la razón por la cual se debe realizar un diagnóstico temprano y así comenzar a abordar al paciente tan pronto como sea posible. |
