| Summary, etc | Argentina enfrenta varios desafíos en materia de seguridad hídrica. En un país con gran diversidad territorial e hidrológica, el 75 % del territorio posee características áridas, semiáridas y subhúmedas. Dentro de este escenario, la mayor parte del agua se destina a la producción agrícola e industrial. Apenas el 10% del agua se destina al consumo humano. Esta disparidad territorial de distribución y uso del agua se asocia a la presión sobre los recursos hídricos generados por la gran concentración urbana que presenta la Argentina. De acuerdo a las proyecciones 2020 del INDEC, el 92% de su población se encuentra establecida en zonas urbanas, por encima de la media mundial (54%) y por encima y de la propia región de la que forma parte (83%). En tanto que las poblaciones y los asentamientos urbanos continúan en aumento, esta dinámica demográfica plantea grandes desafíos relacionados a la disponibilidad y la demanda actual y futura del agua. |
